Have you seen the movie "The Prince of Egypt"? It is a fun way to see the whole story of Moses which of course includes the story of the deliverance of the chilren of Israel. Read the account of Moses (chapters 2 to 15 cover the same time period as The Prince of Egypt). While reading, look for items that have been added or altered in the movie. One Christian author, Philip Yancey writes: "The Prince of Egypt is a fine film by any standard and takes surprisingly few liberties with the biblical story."
The journey that the children of Israel take gives us so many ways to better understand how God is constantly taking care of us and guiding us out of any kind of bondage.
In this week's lesson : God the preserver of man we learn that we have angels (God's thoughts) that are with us in every single part of our lives!
Choose one or two sections that we can talk about this Sunday and relate it to your own life experiences.
Section 1: Direction for our life journey (Moses and the burning bush)
Section 2: Going through the wilderness? Trust God. (Moses leads the children of Israel out of Egypt)
Section 3: Spiritual guidance, even in the wilderness (Dealing with fear along the way)
Section 4: Love meets every human need (Providing food for the children of Israel)
Section 5: God takes us all the way (The courage needed by the children of Israel to finsh the journey)
Section 6: We are always surrounded by God's love, care and guidance (Jesus' illustration of this in the healing of the leper)
